How to make your own Screensaver

Here’s an idea, wouldn’t it be nice if you could have some sort of download on your site for you regular readers, to install and show off that they are active members on your site?

Well, probably the easiest download would be a screensaver. This is because they can be easily made.

I’ll be blunt, there are two different ways to make a quick screensaver. The first is by using FalshPoint converter, which is a plugin for PowerPoint that can convert your PowerPoint presentation (animations and all) and turn it into a screensaver. This is great when you simply want to make a quick but informative screen saver (also great for making a screensaver for to do lists or plans and goals) however when you want to give your reader a screensaver for them to show off you would be more interested in something par se with you logo doing flips across the screen*, in that case you are going to need Axalis Screensaver Producer which is a more elaborated software that can create sprite screensavers (the ones with the bouncing logo). It is relatively easy to use you just have to select your sprite and add some motion properties. It also has tons of features for you to use and enjoy. Many of which I haven’t even tried yet.

Unfortunately the two programs I was talking about are paid and unfortunately they are both over $100. I recommend using the trials (15 days for FlashPoint, 30 days for Axialis) and creating a massive amount of screen saver that you can put for download or just use your self. This is what I did and it worked perfectly. Anyway if you would like and example I have made a simple screensaver you can download and install it here: ZGTScreensaver.

Also, on a more blogging unrelated topic; creating a screensaver with you plans for the week is a great idea, at least for me. I find that it helps keep me in perspective on how things are going and how I am improving. Although it won’t replace a agenda it will do great for long term goals.  Any way just my 2 cents.

*(note: few visitors want a screensaver with just your logo so make sure there are other elements as well)
